Indonesia bans sales of Google phones days after blocking Apple's iPhone 16

Indonesia said it has banned sales of smartphones made by Alphabet's Google due to rules requiring the use of locally manufactured components, days after blocking sales of tech giant Apple's iPhone 16 for the same reason.

Indonesia blocked sales of Google Pixel phones because the company has not met the rules which necessitate certain smartphones sold domestically to contain at least 40% of parts manufactured locally.

"We are pushing these rules so that there's fairness for all investors in Indonesia," Febri Hendri Antoni Arief, industry ministry spokesperson, said on Thursday. "Google's products have not adhered to the scheme we set, so they can't be sold here."

Zelenskyy proposes preemptive strikes on North Korean troops in Russia: 'It depends on our partners'

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on the West to lift restrictions on long-range weapons so Ukraine can strike North Korean troops in Russian "preemptively."

In a post on Telegram on Friday, Zelenskyy said Ukraine could see "every site" where Russia was gathering North Korean troops on its territory.

Drone crashes on oil depot in Russia's Stavropol region

A drone fell on an oil depot in Russia's southern Stavropol region, local governor Vladimir Vladimirov said on Friday.

It was the second suspected Ukrainian attack in consecutive days on Russian fuel and energy targets, following a lull of about seven weeks since a fuel facility in Tula was attacked on Sept. 10.

There were no casualties in the incident at the Svetlograd oil depot, Vladimirov said on Telegram.

Ukraine's Zelenskiy urges allies to stop watching, start acting on North Korea

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy called on Ukraine's allies to stop "watching" and take action to tackle the presence of North Korean troops in Russia before they start confronting his country in combat.

Zelenskiy, in a video posted on Telegram, said North Korea had made progress in its military capability, missile deployment and weapons production and "now unfortunately they will learn modern warfare".

"The first thousands of soldiers from North Korea are near the Ukrainian border. Ukrainians will be forced to defend themselves against them," he said. "And the world will watch again."

Zelenskyy draws parallels between Iranian and Russian tactics in recent attacks

Ukraine condemns the massive attack on Israel, in which nearly 300 missiles and Shahed drones were launched, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

He compared the Israeli attack to the Russian one, as the aggressor state also uses Shahed suicide UAVs against Ukraine during mass attacks. The world must prevent escalation in the Middle East, he added.

"Iran's actions threaten the entire region and the world, just as Russia's actions pose a risk of war expansion," Zelenskyy stated. He called for a "decisive and united response from the world" to what he described as the cooperation between Iran and Russia in spreading terror.
